The Allen Eiry Senior Center provides social and community activities to local seniors. The center is not a resident home, but a place for seniors to meet and interact with each other.
Volunteer instructors teach a variety of classes and sponsor numerous activities, including:
The center sponsors frequent visits to Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo. Recent trips have included visits to national parks, Philadelphia and the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
“Travel stimulates the mind,” said Executive Director Carolyn Griffin. “We put in a lot of effort to make trips nice. We plan a lot of things, but balance between too much and too little activities.”
The Allen Eiry Senior Center is operated by a staff of four. A volunteer board operates and manages the center’s operations. Many members of the board are also members.
The center is open to anyone 50 years and older. Membership is $14 a year per person. A newsletter is sent out to members once a month to keep them up-to-date on events. Special rates are available to members for senior center trips. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
