A parish nurse is a registered professional nurse who, as a member of the ministerial team of our congregation, provides holistic nursing services to the members of the congregation. With the church organization as their base, parish nurses promote wellness by addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the congregation members.

Parish nurses do not provide home health care services or perform invasive nursing procedures. They are not in competition with public health or community health services, but rather work in collegial relationships with these agencies to enhance health care delivery to members of their faith community.

Some examples of the Parish Nurse's duties are:

  • Assessing the health needs for parish community/congregation
  • Providing blood pressure/diabetic screens
  • Making home/hospital or nursing home visits
  • Offering support groups for grief, divorce, aging, etc.
  • Referring to appropriate health/social agencies

Our Parish Nurse is Patricia Reinbolt.
