The Tiffin Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering
partial scholarships to the AAUW Be Wise Camp. This weeklong residential camp
for girls currently enrolled in the 6th or 7th grade from around Ohio will be
held June 15-20, 2008 on the campus of Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

by Friday, February 15.
BeWise is a mathematics and science camp designed to develop interest,
excitement, and self-confidence in girls. Hands-on activities are planned for
average students who need encouragement to pursue math and science. Specially
selected, experienced teachers will work with small groups of students to
encourage maximum interaction and instruction. The camp will also offer many
all-camp activities such as swimming, volleyball, and tennis.
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has announced its schedule for adult computer
classes in February. Two Beginner Internet classes will be offered. The Monday,
February 4, class will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon and the Wednesday, February
20, class is scheduled for 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. These classes are designed for
users who are just learning how to navigate the Internet. Knowledge of how to
use a mouse is helpful.
Searching the Internet classes, designed for people who already have taken the
Beginner Internet class, are set for 10:00 a.m. to noon Tuesday, February 5, and
for 1:30-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 26. Students will learn three different
types of search engines and how to formulate good searches.
All classes are free and held in the Kernan Computer Lab. Registration is

The Chamber's annual fundraiser, "Heart of My Heart" will be held Friday, February 8th at Camden Falls Reception and Conference Center. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and Silent Auction to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Singles as well as couples are invited. "Everyone needs to celebrate Valentines Day at this event that has become a well attended tradition in Tiffin," said Event Chairperson, Shirley Smith, National City Bank Branch Manager. Guests will enjoy a silent and live auction, dinner, dancing, entertainment, gifts and other fun surprises. Rusty Vinyl and The Late Show are two local bands who know how to have a good time. Both bands will be playing throughout the evening.
Funds raised will go toward community development projects. In the past, community projects such as the "Welcome to Tiffin Signs" and seasonal banners were purchased with fundraiser dollars. Tickets can be purchased for $50 each and includes dinner with choice of salmon or filet mignon and two bands for continuous music and dancing. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Chamber Office at (419) 447-4141.
Women A.C.T. (Acclaiming Christ Together) is sponsoring a one-day interdenominational conference for women of all ages. This year's conference is entitled "Close to God's Heart." The speaker will be Mrs. Erin Campbell from Cincinnati. Becky Blocksom from Upper Sandusky will bring us the special music, and the special feature of the day will be Karen Westgate from Sandusky.
The conference will be Saturday, March 8 at Camden Falls Reception & Conference Center in Tiffin. Lunch is included in the $20 cost. For information brochures and reservations, please call (419) 448-9852 or (419) 448-8130.
Seneca County Genealogical Society meeting on February 5th will include a presentation on the 1884 Seneca County Courthouse. The program will include a “virtual tour” of the structure and information relating to the construction and the history of the building. The meeting will be held in the Frost-Kalnow Room of the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library at 7:30 p.m., and is open to the public.
The International Fellowship of Chaplains will be holding Chaplain Training from February 11-15 at SC3, 380 Huron St., Tiffin, Ohio. The training costs $295 at the door, and is from 8 AM to 6 PM Monday-Friday. Students must attend all five classes. Contact Joanna Estep at (419) 455-9320 for more information.
A benefit for Brandon Mock will take place at the Jr. Fair Building, Seneca County Fairgrounds on Sunday, January 27. All you can eat fish and chicken will be on the menu. The cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 10 and under. Proceeds will go to help the Mock family with medical expenses
